Default Differential Build

I am looking into getting the differential on my 75 coupe rebuilt and would like to know what most of you have done. I am going to be putting a small block engine that will produce 400-425 HP in it. Will the stock rearend hold up to this considering the low HP rating it had from the factory? I don't want to overbuild the rearend to handle more power than it will ever see but don't want it to fail after the engine upgrade. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

I did it myself with GTR1999's guidance. Your power levels will be OK for a freshened up rear end, but these things had known issues when they were new. The design was continually refined as the years went on, but nothing was weakened since the C2 and early C3 big block days. The design can handle your power levels but the quality, materials, and workmanship was lacking on these differential assemblies through the 60's and 70's. GTR1999 and Tracdogg can both help you either fix the shortcomings yourself or they can do it for you.

Be sure to use new stub axles, with the HP you plan on running it's a wise investment. If you decide to do the rebuild yourself and have questions, feel free to call me during business hours. 972-243-3838. -Jeff
