Back up lamp switch question (see pic)
I just installed a replacement backup lamp switch in my '72 and now the backup lamps work - all of the time! I noticed before installing the new switch that the green and pink colored leads were on opposite terminals from the switch that I removed. A rod from the shift lever connects to a small lever on the replacement switch. And a small alignment hole is visible on the small lever and the bracket that it mounts to. So everything seems right. If I flip the switch around, with the "L" shaped lever pointing up again, that alignment hole won't be there. Here's a picture of my old switch to show what it looked like. The mounting holes for the switch bracket are slotted, so it can be adjusted somewhat. So does it need to be aligned so the "L" shaped lever isn't always making contact? Does it even matter if the terminals are reversed? I'm grateful that the connections work, and this must be a simple fix.
