They are priced similar but I think it might be easier to get one from ebay just because Im not sure where the metal from a new one might end. (I might have already removed too much metal). Any suggestions?

No suggestions, never done it before but I would love to see some pictures. The top of my windshield frame has some rust. I haven't removed the trim to see how bad yet, but i'm worried. I'm interested to see what's involved in your repair.
Willcox's site did have some pretty good info on this subject at one point, detailed and lots of pics. They should be able to help you with parts/info as well.
I decided to get the top of a windshiled frame locally, so far I have cut out the old frame and tomorrow Ill try to fit the new one. Pics attached. I notched the frame so I could create a stronger connection.
I noticed that you didn't brace anything before you cut out the windshield frame... just be sure that you only tack in the new pieces and then test fit the windshield, doors (with windows up) and the T-Tops carefully to be sure everything fits. You certainly don't want to find out after it's all welded in that you have issues with any of those.
Wow! What do your lower windshield corners and rocker channels look like? I only 2 or 3 small holes in the upper part and my drivers side lower windshield corner is trashed.

They were both bad.
Heres what I did to the lower windshield corners
The #2's were really bad aswell so I put in a plate to help
This was my first attempt at metal work so bare with me.
Ill be sure to test fit the windshield, t-tops and doors first.
