The piece attached to the firewall with all the red wires and I believe its keeping the starter from working. Can any1 tell me what it is and if I can just take it out? Some1 had put an aftermarket alarm and some sound stuff that I have taken out and I'm wondering if this has something to do with those. Thanks
That's a solenoid (relay) for your starter. If it's wired properly it takes a heavy load off of your ignition switch when you engage the starter. If it's wired properly you should be able to place a jumper wire between the large lug on the left and the lug with the wire on the front and the starter will turn the engine over. It's not a bad thing to have and help your ignition swtch last longer. This type of solenoid is common on Ford vehicles.
Thanks for all the input. I had already removed it by the time I logged back on. Battery was showing 12v until i went to turn the key and then it would drop to 4. Just couldnt figure that out when working by myself.
