I powder coated the frame and shot the tub with satin black. Used stainless bolts to replace the rivets. I've got the whole thing off while working on my rebuild right now. I'm putting the new electric fuel pump, filter, and pump relay in the tub area and will eliminate carrying a spare in lieu of carrying a tire repair kit/compressor package that Slime has in that same area. Here's a pic of what will be covered soon by the refurbished carrier.
When I get the carrier back on I'll post a pic of it. It will be a couple of weeks as the tank is off getting sumped right now.
I gave my cover a spruce up about 4 years ago
(painted with VHT black wrinkle finish and hand painted crossed flags)and wouldn't you know it, 2 weeks later -It cracked !!!!
As you can see by the pic it's taken a bit of a beating since.
I'll end up re-doing it ONE DAY (soon).

Wow i love those hand painted crosses flags that looks awesome...maybe ill do something like that!
Has anyone converted their spare tire carrier for something else? I won't be carrying a spare anymore "tire in a can & AAA" and I could use the space. It looks perfect for tools, flares ect.
TIA
