Default Heater hose plumbing

I have a mongrel '68, the block is actually a 427 from an early '70's truck, new intake manifold that is a high rise aluminum unit from edelbrock. It is not set up quite the same as the l88 rectangle port manifold it replaces, and I'm not sure which heater hose goes where :o ...it does not look like it wants to follow the diagram in the AIM. The car has no air conditioning. I put in a new heater core as the old one started leaking a few years ago and had to be temporarily bypassed, and a new high flow aluminum water pump after the recent engine rebuild. I'm now putting it all back together and hopefully will be firing it up in a week or two. I just need to get the heater hoses right

Could someone post a picture of their setup? I can take a picture of my pump/manifold over lunch and post it back here in a bit, which will perhaps help some expert out there point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

My car is a 69 small block and the 3/4" hose is on the water pump and the 5/8" hose is on the intake manifold. Not sure if that helps you.

Ok, here's the current setup:

The small right angle hose from the top of the water pump to the inlet below the thermostat housing does not even show in the AIM manual, but was present on my previous l88 intake, so I replaced it as it was before. I don't know what the purpose of this little connection is to be honest. I assume I can connect the upright outlet on the top passenger side of the intake to the 5/8" heater box fitting, then run the 3/4" hose from the lower pump fitting to the other heater box fitting. If this is not correct, please chime in!

...and just because it's pretty and we all like pictures, here's the engine fresh from the shop and ready to drop back in:

That sounds correct but where your intake fitting is, your heater hose is going to stick straight up in the air. On mine I drilled & tapped the flat boss on the front of the intake & put the fitting there & plugged the one on the top.

That's an external bypass. All BBCs in Corvettes had them, later SBCs were internal. Your set up look correct (and very pretty).

I like that plan. Unfortunately I am quite certain I don't have a tap that size, I'll need to look around for one. Of greater concern, I really don't want to remove the intake, but neither do I want to introduce aluminum shavings into the beast in the course of drilling and tapping

Perhaps I can find a right angle fitting for the heater hose that won't look so salient and try that for the time being...
