Default Dynomax VTs

So I pulled my Borlas because the drone crawled up the back of my neck at 2,000 RPMs and was just about unbearable in stop and go traffic. I took a chance on the new Dynomax VTs which work as advertised, quiet to low growl during normal driving but more aggressive under pedal to the floor throttle.

There is one small problem though, of course...

At idle it sounds like I have two of those motorized chimps dolls banging their small symbols together on each side of the car. I went behind the car to see what was going on, and after nearly keeling over from the fumes (something to be said for modern cats), it appears the valves in the mufflers are opening and closing from the pulse of the idle exhaust. Anyone ever hear of something like this? Anyone know of anyway to stop the pulsing.

I also have a call to tech support.

Those look like pretty new technology so I don't know if you will get too much help here. The only thing I can think of is that a lot of mufflers are designed to be mounted much closer to the engine than is possible on a Vette. Perhaps a stronger exhaust pressure closer to the engine keeps the valve steady. It looks like the flap is controlled by exhaust pressure only. In this case I hope Dynomax has good tech support.

Thanks. The good thing with these mufflers is I can return them within 90 days for a refund. Wouldn't even mind welding the valve permanently closed though because I like them quietish. Must be getting old I can't stand loud mufflers anymore unless they are sidepipes on a vert.
