I am in the final stages of getting the interior back together, and need some help with the gage console. I have looked over the wiring diagram and the AIM, but I cannot figure out what is wrong. None of the center gages work, and they all worked before. Can anyone tell me how the gages are grounded, and where that ground is? Any pics would be great.
I had similar problem, The main connector had dirty contacts cleaned them and worked fine. The center console doesn't have to been installed to work either .When i had mine out painting it had the guages dangling just so i could drive it .You could check the connector at where it mounts for voltage to make sure your getting power up to the cluster.Good luck .I know this is no fun.
Thanks to everyone for the replys. This leads me to believe I definitly have a power supply problem. That makes it mush easier to track down. Now, does anyone have a good idea for fixing the actual console. When I took it out, I realized that the top part was broken completely away from the bottom of the console. Looking at the small material section there, I know others have had this problem. Please give me some ideas of how you fixed yours.
Haven't done it yet, but I am planning on using the JB Weld putty compound to do it, then repainting the whole thing.. I figure the JB Weld is formable so I can work with it to get it just right.
I can ask this based on my own expereince, when everything seems to stop working and it worked before: Did you hook the battery back up? Is it charged? Can you start the car? :smash:
That's a decent question, but yes the car is running. I have put about 200 miles on it since the rebuild. However, I still have a long list of things to complete. I just couldn't resist driving the car. Right now, though, I am focusing on getting all the gages and the windshield wipers working (haven't worked since I bought the car.)
Has anyone tried welding a brace on the backside of the console (side that touches the dash pads)?
