What do you mean by cowl area and is it just when the AC is on or do you mean just when the fan is on?
Mine has air blowing out in to the engine bay from the fan box on driverside, it is due to the sealent falling out, I am losing about 20% of my fans capability because of it but I intend to fix it soon, its on the "to do" list.
