Default Plenum Door

The gasket on the plenum door is completely gone . The door will close most of the way but there is almost 3/4 " that is open where it close and it appears to be wedge shaped is this correct ? Can the door be adjusted ? All help appreciated. I can make the gasket if this is how the door is supposed to be when it closes. Thanks

You should give a little more info and pics on the car , year etc. Most parts are available from the aftermarket suppliers.

If you are talking about the right-side kickpanel door, you can easily rebuild it with new gasket materials. Buy one 8"x10" piece of black "craft foam" at Michael's Craft store. It is the exact material used for the door seal. You can remove that door by lifting upward on the pivot shaft. As you will note, it is spring loaded for that purpose. Just remove the vacuum actuator hardware and pull up the pin. You can use Pop-rivets to reassemble the door.

P.S. Make sure you use enough material to create a good seal. You can always cut the material down 'after-the-fact'; it's real difficult to add any.

I was refering too the air plenum door it is located under the plastic grill in the cowl area by the wiper . This is the door that allows fresh air in to the cabin. It closes on max air and opens on normal. The gasket is gone and not closing all the way thus hot air into cabin. Orginal question, is this door supposed to close completely or did it close to the gasket which would be about 3/4" thick at one end and wedge shaped. This is not the kick panel valve. That is insde the car ,but it operates the same way even on the same vacuum line.
