81 ECM
Need a new ECM for the 81, where is the best place to buy? Check engine light will not go out and have followed every step in the troubleshooting guide. No shorts to ground and no bulb problems. According to the book I have a faulty letter connection on the ECM. Car runs perfect and have had no problems with performance. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I read where someone ordered an 81 ECM from AutoZone ( autoparts chain )
for $79...pretty cheap If you ask me
I think Ecklers has them for $100

Before you spend all of that hard earned money for a ECM look around for an '81 Buick 4.1, Cadillac 6 cyl, Camaro 3.8-4.4-5.0-5.7, Buick Century 6cyl,Chevette, itation2.5-2.8,Cutlas3.8,Firebird 3.8 All of these are to be used less the PROM

Anytime, glad I could help. Hey where is Rossville TN at anyway? I'm on I-24 65 miles from Nashville, 65 miles from Chattanooga and 70 miles from Huntsville AL. In an hour I can be in 1 of 3 major cities ( major for around here that is). I'm not familiar with that city. JIM

Jim,
Rossville is just outside of Memphis. 5 miles from the MS stateline. 1hr from Florence Al., 2hr from Nashville. Depending on how late i'm running about 4hr to Knoxville (Big Orange Country: GO VOLS!!!!!!)

Option's yours....replace ECM, or if you have no trouble passin your emissions testing and eng runs fine....pull the bulb! So much for another pesky idiot light! Good Luck -Rod :chevy
