Question or 3 on Drag Radials ?
Which ones do you guys like the best ?
I am going to put them on my old stock OEM aluminum wheels, 15x8 with 4in. Bs. I want to run a 275/60/15 drag radial.
I would like to know if anyone with this combo, ( doesn't have to be the same wheels just the same width and bs.) knows whether the tires will fit under the rear fenders ( ie; not hit the fender ) on a hard launch.
I would also like to drive on the highway to get to the track so I would prefer to change them at home, don't think I can get 2 wheels and tires in the Vette anyway. So I would like them to be DOT and safe on the highway, I would take it easy and not drive in the rain etc.
I tried BFGoodrich and MickeyThompsons 275/60-15s on the steel rims and on Welds, and the MTs hooked better signficantly. Get em nice and hot on the first run.

Are we taking a pole on when the rear end is going to break?
I have heard good things about the Mickey ET streets.
I have considered the next set of tires to just run a set of drag radials all the time. The Nitto DR seem to hook OK and drive pretty well. They are expensive but what isn't for these cars.
My last Vette (an 82) had 275 60R 15 BFG Radial TAs on factory aluminum rims and they never rubbed.
That car never went to the track, so any "launching" done was on the street.
I've just about used up my first set of drag radials - BFG 275/60/15 on the stock aluminum 8 inch wheel. They don't hit the fenders on the launch, and I have run 1.74 short times with them. My drivetrain is totally different than yours, but my car launches with zero wheelspin on the DR's.

Nitto 555R 285/40ZR18: 26.89 Dia. 11.42 width
Nitto NT05 285/40R18: 27.09 Dia. 11.42 width
MT ET Street Radial II: 265/40R18: 26.5 Dia width will fit, maybe this is the winner
Using our wheels it would be a tight fit with the 285's, time for those osta's we have sitting around...

Bruce, we going to see you at Englishtown this August.....
I'll never be done either. Drag radials, 480RWHP......
Seems that way Wayne, geez I remember when I first met Gordon, I just got done restoring my 73 to NCRS specs and met him at a corvette show, well hearing his 72 then was death for me... now 10 years later and alot of $$$$ thanks to Gordon... I have one very quick 73 and a good friend... the joke is among our friends is "so, your going to leave it stock".......right....
If the Corvette rear end is that fragile, replace it or upgrade it. It's just a waste to build all these high hp motors and then can't run them out.
As for the post 275/60-15 MT Drag Radial work amazing. I put the car almost on the bumper last weekend, I had to let off. Car runs a 1.40 60ft driven the the track on pump gas.

Rear end is gonna get upgraded, before or after the first run on DR's I don't know yet I haven't made my mind up
I agree with you 100% you gotta drive the high powered C3's like gkull, who else do you know that can break a brand new 4340 forged crankshaft in half
That's why I am selling parts in the for sale section....help contribute to MotorHead's rear end fund and buy something it's all good parts I am selling. 10% off if you mention the rear end fund
