Default Cruise Control wiring question...help please

Why does the cruise control wiring harness on my 79 have so much extra wiring? I just noticed it all today. You can't see it but there is a bunch of extra brown wiring together with a vaccuum hose underneath harness tape. I think its factory too because there are no splices in the wire. I am confused. Help would be appreciated.

Is there a functional problem with your cruise control that you are trying to address? Do you think it is related to the extra brown wiring?

The wiring diagram for my 78 does show a 24 gauge brown wire routed from the engage switch to the regulator through a connector on the lower steering column, but extra wire coiled within the harness should not be a problem.

There are no functional problems with it. I just don't understand it because there is like three extra feet of wiring and that looks to be from the factory. I was just wondering out of curiousity. It seems wasteful to have that much extra so there must be some reason for it.

I remember reading something about the resinstace of the wire was needed. Your're not supposed to shorten the wire.

That's all I could think of. I just don't understand it. I guess I'll just leave it alone.

Your killing me with those comments. I had a 74 w/ a 427 BB and the only option was power steering.
Now I have the 82 and the only option I don't have is the CB radio I know where your coming from.....
