Default Power steering

I just replaced the power steering pump as well as all of the hoses on my76. Everything seemed to go well with no leaks etc. It seems since then, there is more play in the steering. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bill

These cars have power assist steering...it only aids in moving the steering system. The hydraulic pressure would not affect play in the steering wheel. You must have an issue with the steering gear, rag joint or maybe tie rod ends. Best to jack it up and try to see what is loose.

I had a rag joint that was about to split. Big difference with a new one. Also there is an adjustment screw on top of the steering box that will tighten up your steering gear. just don't overtighten.
