speedo broken
My speedo cable broke today. It is one of the 2 piece models and the inner square cable inside the bottom part sheath broke. Other than the obvious speedo not working thing will it hurt anything to drive the car with the lower half of the speedo cable out. I dont want the gear inside the transmission to be messed up by not having the square rod in it while turning. I can always put it back in until the new one arrives but that seems counterproductive if I dont need to.

Better it's out than the pieces still in there. Unless you're committed to a 2 piece cable, you can get a 72" one piece and be back on the road with everything working too.
