My motor wasn't built with a blower in mind, but I fell unto a deal on a Holley 420.
Compression is right around 9-1 so I underdrive it, keep the rpms down.
It makes about 6-9 lbs of boost in this configuration. I also run a boost retard ignition box to pull timing out as boost rises and so far all internal engine parts are still where I originally put 'em.
Most fun I've ever had
Forget it. If you absolutely insist on this, under drive it to the point where it makes a pound or two of boost and call it good lookin'! Seems like an awful lot of money not to do right....
we are planning on building a stroker 383 to go with it, but while everything gets ready, I thought in running on the original 350 to get a feel for it and as soon we have everything ready for the 383 rebuild we overdrive it.
Do you still feel I should await and only add it when the 383 is built?
thanks

If those are your plans, then go for it. Just follow Yellow 72's instructions and something goes wrong, build the stroker ASAP. Good luck.
Would I have to rebuilt the blower again to change it to the 383?
It sounds like you may not have a full grasp of the hows and whys of roots blowers.
I suggest reading any and all you can find on the subject before you waste a lot of cash.
I have a pretty good book by Pat Ganahl titled, A do-it-yourself guide to Street SuperCharging. If you would like it you're welcome to it.
PM me your address and it's yours.

Hi guys,
I'm buying the drive set up for the blower. I'm thinking in having he compression at 6.5 and run 16~17 psi on blower. The guys at BDS recommended to set up for gas/E85 as E85 stations are rare and mpg get much lower on eE85.
How low can I set the compression before I start to run issues? Is 6.5 ok?
thanks
Is this going to be a race car or a street car, reason i ask is because running 17+ boost you may run into over heating for street driving,in traffic especially, but if your compression is low you probably will be ok,plus i have said it before ,if its for street driving i cant stress this enough,if its your first blower try to do it right and running a bigger blower like the 671 and larger you will find that it is a pain to drive the car around because the blower will obstruct you view pretty good, you cant see on your right hand side, believe me i know . for racing it doesnt matter, you are driving in a straight line and dont have traffic to worry about.Im not knocking anybodies setups,i love blowers and will not run my cars without one just a heads up about something you might not have thought about.

Yes i have a blower, its a 144 wieand, and it obstructs my view a little. It has to do with how low our cars are setup, you sit low and it makes the blower seem even higher.
I'm thinking in running it 2% over, on a 350/383 it makes ~12 psi
and to run 12 psi on 93 octane, I need a static of 6.5 to 7
It will be city/highway ridden. With very few times on high rpm
is that low to start and or run on street comfortably?
If I'm going to do this and spend all this money I prefer to run it at max within pump gas limits
If you just want your engine to "look" bad-a$$, just put a blower on it with no guts and save yourself a broken engine down the road. If you just want it to be fast "every now and then", install a good nitrous system on it and blow some doors off every once in a while. If you want it to look 'bad' AND go fast on a regular basis, build the engine up right so it won't puke hardware when you step on it.
