To move or not remove the flares. I am not a waxer and believe these cars were meant to be driven. I have too many projects and need to get a couple of them sold. 68 327-350hp, 4spd, air car. It is not a no hit car but numbers match on everything. It needs paint, should I just leave the flares or deal with all the addisional time and cost to remove them? I plan on selling the car after it gets painted.
Hi zr1,
I'd think a 350 hp, air, car with the proper pieces would be worth a lot more with out the flairs.
It's a lot of work but I believe that removing the flairs would certainly increase the value and widen the market.
Regards,
Alan
I put a link on here to photobucket. I made need the collectives help here. I like all original cars with correct body lines but don't call me a purist or waxer. I like to drive these cars. The front flares are so subtle you barely see them but they are there. I have some 17x9 torque thrust type wheels, 275-50-17, but have not had the time to see what they look like. I have a feeling they would look great. The car will be painted trim tag correct international blue. http://s717.photobucket.com/albums/ww178/zr1promod/
If it's a 1968 I'd ditch the script - but keep those (very subtle) flares. The only way to remove them "right" is to replace those 4 body panels. I'm just not sure how *much* more the car would be worth with all that done. I'm going to side with the guy that said to just make sure your wheels and tires suit the flares.
I took some new pictures with the 275-50-17 tires and they look wicked. I think the flares will stay. I can't get this wheel and tire combination anymore, but a 275-60-15 will have close to the same diameter. (New wheels and tires 1K), (quarters, fenders labor 2+k) the car will be worth another 1-2k in this soft market. I do not think it is worth the time and effort.
