The vin on the block matches the vin on the car, but i have read in two diffrent places on line that H,W, stands for 300 HP and another is 350 HP. So can anyone desifer V120HW that is nexto the partial vin # on the left side of the block. Just wondering if this block is a correct 350 HP as is the sticker on the air cleaner ?. THANKS.

Hi fv69,
I'd expect your identification stamp to have a letter, 4 digits, 2 letters.
A 'V', for the Flint Mich. plant where it was built.
Maybe '0120' for January 20. The validity of this date is somewhat determined by the cars build date.
A 2 letter Engine Broadcast Code. HW for a 350/350 as c posted.
There are many other ways to determine what the engine is, and is it original to the car, besides the air cleaner label. One example would be the red line on the tachometer. Also the configuration of the engine will be a clue as to what it was or is.
Regards,
Alan

Default engine block code

Thanks guys, thought so. just had to confirm with vette people that know what there talking abought.Found me a really good 69 350/350 Daytona yellow. If there is any interest or if anyone knows my new vette it is on the corvette regestery under vin#79S737935 victor porez in thousand oakes, Appears this family had the car sence 1999, the husband died, not sure when. Id like to know more abought the car. There is no tank dock looks to be all original with now 68014 miles on it and no problems. Just dont want to bother them right now the wife signed the car over to me while the marine son looked on, could see that it hurt if you know what i mean, ive had the car 3 months think ill wate a little longer i know the son was getting deployed soon and could not take care of the car. When i first looked at the car the son said his mom had lost or trashed some of the paperwork on the car or just cant find it. Hope to push myself in calling the mom soon. Anyway thanks for listening firstvett69.
