Brake Shield

I'm in the process of rebuilding the parking brake and would like to remove the brake backing shield, but have a question. Do I need to remove the rear spindle to remove the shield?

If i remember correctly no, but the hub will have to come off and the steering knuckle bolts. Might as well repack the bearings if you go that far.

I'm actually talking about the rear brake shields. It looks to me like the spindle will have to come out, but am just trying to make sure.

Hi J,
Yes, the spindle does need to come out of the trailing arm to replace the dust shield.
