Just put a new Batt in my vette and took it for a spin, I checked the voltage with a meter at idel was OK, but when I go up to Highway speed the volt meter reads 14.5- 16 Is this my regulator or just using more power at higher rpm
OK , not sure of the gauge but the later model gauges from 78-82 read high ,actually in the red quite often. You might want to use your meter to be sure you are overcharging.
Thats a normal 3 wire. I 've seen the 1 wire aftermarket alternators read on the high side.
Take it off and have A.Z. or Advanced check it for you. Replacing the regulator is fairly easy.
