Starter bolt pattern

Can someone explain to me what BB applications used 2 bolt nose bolt patterns and which used 3 bolt patterns on the starters?Thanks

Any Chevy starter i have ever seen or used on BBC or SBC have been 2 bolt only with a brace on the front to the block. Some were staggered and some were inline.

They never used a 3 bolt starter. The small flywheel 153 tooth used the straight across starter. The big flywheel 168 tooth used the staggard starter. Pretty sure all BB used the turbo 400 which had the big 168 tooth flywheel so it would be the staggard starter.

Depends on the size of the BB, 454`S actually use the same starter as a 350. 396 and 427 use a cast iron staggered nose starter
