as far as I think you don't have the line on the left on the canister.
the purge signal will allow the canister to start "sucking" fuel vapor through the other vacuum line as you don't want it to escape when the engine is off.
I'm not a pro, but this is what I understand..
P.S you don't have the bowl vapor line I guess.
and the one Tee'd to the PCV is the one which sucks the fuel vapor, the smaller one should be the purge signal, without it the vapor should remain in the canister.

Very nice schematic!
I don't think I've ever seen it.... where's it from?
On my 71 there are 3 lines.... 1 entering from the gas tank, 1 entering from the carburetor, and 1 leaving the canister headed toward the pcv and the carburetor.
