Default Where the hell did that screw come from?

Had my valve covers off last night, my drivers side valve cover was rattling, I couldn't figure out from where.
Gave it a vigorous shake and out popped a 1/2" self tapping button head Robertson screw, from inside the PCV box.

Other than the previous owner accidentally dropping it in there, where could it have come from?

You might have to explain what a Robertson head screw is to our US cousins

The only thing that comes to mind and I might be crazy but I think there are 4 of those holding the shield or baffle to the bottom side of the intake manifold.

Do you have that kind of screw somewhere else on your engine ?
Is it a stock or an aftermarket valve cover ?
If it was trapped inside the PCV box, I can hardly imagine how the screw went there except someone accidentaly dropped it in there.

If you want to know where a loose screw comes from, Congress comes to mind.

Those square head screws are commonly used on travel trailers. Leads me to believe someone previously used your C3 as a tow vehicle to haul around a 32' house trailer. Hey, maybe we have a lead on the whereabouts of "Bubba"!!!!!!!
