Default Help identifying distributor part

Hey guys,
My mechanic told me that my engine problem is from water or condensation getting into the distributor. He gave me this piece and told me it broke off and that water is running down the wires and into the distributor. He also said the part has been out of production for a few years already. Can anyone identify the part and know where I can find another. It's off an 81 btw. TIA

Theres also 2970E and PED 10 stamped on it.

Any of these it ? Is that just a plastic cover for some wires, if so can't you put silicone down and put the plastic cover back on ?

The first link looks like it however. But only 1982 corvettes are listed? Mine's an 81. I wonder if it would work? The last two links don't work. Waiting for more people to chime in on this, thanks so far!

Orieleys carries the part, have them look up dist parts for a truck, know it sounds nuts but the parts are the same, I just bought one for my 81, sorry I don't have the part number handy. They have it but it was a pain to find.

Lots of these types of posts here in the last couple of years. I've been wondering if its just someone from another forum screwing with C3 or if its someone posting made up questions to keep us all interested.

Paragon lists it for 81 and 82 as does the GM parts book.
Does your car run ? What were the symptoms again ?

Roger,

If that's it they sure don't give them away.

That was my thought also. I doubt this little plastic cover is causing his problems , hope he responds with symptoms of what his engine was doing. (He might need a new mechanic. )
I'm pretty sure this harness can be found in any junkyard in almost every GM v8 car made from 81 and up.
