Hey all,

Thanks for the tips on the original post. I did ground. like suggested and the temp guage did go to hot, the sensor is also new, but still no reading on the guage. Any more tips to try out there. Would appriciate any suggestions.

Did you run a "bypass test" wire from the sender directly to the gauge so see if that corrected the problem? If it does, your sender wire and/or the gauge circuit board have a 'break' in them somewhere.

No, but I will do that and let you know how it goes.

Thanks

What brand of sender did you buy ? I'm working on a 70 today and the owner brought me a new sender from Paragon.
The ohms reading on the sender at room temperature ( 78* ) is 1161 ohms.
At 180 degrees the sender reads 450 ohms
At 206 degrees the sender reads 183
Of course this sender is junk.

The dash gauge should respond to readings in the 340ohm to 0 ohm readings.

Lectric limited says a 110-115 ohms reading should produce a dash reading of 180*
and a reading of 50-60 ohms should show a dash reading of 200*

Like Roger said senders do not allways have the same ohms, I tryed a half dozen trying to get a accuate reading( got them from the junk yard about a $1 ea.) I ended up going with a mech. guage. It is hard to get one spot on. Like 7T1vette said check the wire to a easy check is to turn the key on and ground the temp sender wire the guage sould max. out
