please help with wiring problems
newbie here. i replaced the starter and had the alternator tested on my 80 California model. took pics but were deleted.
on the alternator ground bolt, i have one thick black wire attached. there is a smaller black wire coming directly from the center left inner fender. should i connect it to the alternator also? Haynes manual shows only one connected to the alternator. where does the thinner ground go to?
also on my starter, there are only 2 bolts. does the very thick black wire from the battery and the red wire connect at the top and the purple wire connect on the inboard side?

Be careful with that wiring. On my '72, the larger black wire is actually the power feed from the battery. The smaller black wire is the ground connection for the AC, fan, and windshield wiper motor. Trace the wiring to be sure - use a voltmeter!

i traced down the wires. the thinner black wire goes to the ground located at front center between the headlights. the thicker black goes to the battery negative. both show continuity with each other and grounding. should they be bolted together at the alternator ground?
