Default Engine idle solenoid

I got my A/C working yesterday ($$$), but there seems to be a problem with the idle up solenoid. According to the A/C shop, they couldn't adjust the solenoid far enough down with the AC running. The engine would "idle" at about 2000 rpm with A/C on and the solenoid screwed all the way in, so they disconnected it.

Does anyone have experience with this solenoid? Could it be that it's defective? (I think these guys know what they're doing.) Or don't these guys know what they're doing?

It looks like you have the wrong solenoid or the braket is bent, That is the only thing I use for my idle and it works perfectly.

Agree with 73-454 on the solenoid and bracket. I believe NAPA has the crossover #'s for their Echlin product line for the proper solenoid for your carb. Most of the solenoids will either screw in the carb bracket or have a 1/2" nut to screw in or out for idle. Also, the bracket on the carb can be not snapped in fully.
