i have a 1973.headlights work, all parking lights work, reverse lights work, turn signals work, but when i turn on the hazards i hear the (new)flasher "click" twice(the lights don't flash when i hear the clicks just the flasher itself i can hear click)then the fuse blows.i replaced both flashers(turn and hazard) twice just to be sure i didn't get a faulty one.any ideas on what might be causing this.i checked for power where the hazard flasher plugs into the fuse box and only one of the two terminals has power both with and without the key on and also when the hazard switch is on or off.thanks for any and all help.
I would pull the steering wheel and check the hazard switch. Sounds like its shorting to ground somewhere.
or the brown going up the column is shorted before it gets to the hazard switch. Check the screw holding lower column cover , its supposed to be a short screw,if someone put a long screw in I have seen it go right into the wire ribbon going up the column.
Just found out the turn signals are doing the same thing.I turned on the left blinker and it worked fine then tried the right and it was very dim(I just put a new bulb in it yesterday)so I replaced the bulb again and turned it on and it blew the fuse.keep in mind everything worked fine a couple of days ago but I was trying everything again because I was going for state inspection and now this happened.inside of tail lights look brand new.is there a wire that shares the same circuit of both the turn and hazard lights I can check?thanks again for all the help.
under the steering column there is a small screw that holds on the trim. if that is too long it can affect the hazards and turn signal. try removing that screw.
