which camshaft
I hear a camshaft is one the most effective upgrades, I found this page at Jeg's for crane, I have no idea what the numbers mean, which one will be best for my 76 L-48 with true dual exhaust, no cats and open air element as the only other mods. is crane the brand to go with the $78 sounds nice, comp cams and lifters are like $220 in ecklers for the L-48...
thanks

Re: which camshaft (szercer)
Do you know what rear gears you have and woud you be willing to use a higher stall converter? Try and stay under 280 actual duration on the street. I had a 280 .480 lift cam with 3.55 gears and a TH350 transmission with a stock converter and it barley squealed the tires. It was a real dog off the line. It would hhave been better with a 260 or 270.

Re: which camshaft (Stingy74)
don't know what rear gears I have, they're stock... not familiar with a stall converter either, this cam has range of 1200-4800 which sounds pretty good for acceleration, what does the cruise range mean?
here's the page for the crane cams

You HAVE to replace the lifters if you do the cam. Your old lifters can ruin a new cam in minutes. Also you should use the time to replace the timing gears and chain. The Comp Cam set with everything in it is a good buy, I don't know if Crane has something similar.
