Default Is this really a 69??

Looking to buy a 69 and came across this...

Didn't the 69 have "gills"? Doesn't look like this vette does. Also, it claims to come with factory power locks which I didn't think was available in the 69. What do you guys think?

I agree, looks more like a 72. Though I guess it could be a 69 w/aftermarket parts. Those fender and mirror styles are a giveaway.

Gills look like 73-79.
Look in the front wheel well for a splice.
VIN would be a big help.

There is a 69 here in Wichita that has a complete 1980 body on it.
The only thing left that is 69 is the doors, running gear, frame, and interior.

The point is just about anything is possible.

Judging from the location and size of the side marker lights, it appears tob e a 69 with fender flares, dynomax side pipes, 73-79 gills, and later model bullet rear view mirrors.

I'd pass on this one.

As others have stated, the side gills are wrong but anybody can glass in new side vents. In addition, the 68-69's didn't have the little "mud flap" flairs in front of each tire. According to the Corvette Black Book, 11,859 69's had a/c. The only way to tell what year it really is, is the VIN.

Whatever year it is, it has been modified from original.

Vin for 1969 should be between 194679S700001 and 194679S738762. Other year Vin's available if needed -- send email.

Best Wishes

Mine is a 76,, With a 1980 front clip and a 1980 rear bumper cover. I kept mine mostly 76 but had to replace broke pieces and a bent frame, which I got from a 78 4 spd car that burnt. I would say that car had probably been wrecked or caught fire and someone brought it back to life.

You know...to me...well...Is that a Photoshop job? That gill just does not look right, too small and slightly slanted, plus the yellow around it is a bit different.
