Default Timing Problems (Lars)

I went to go try and tune my carb today and I decided to check my timing before I started. I noticed my timing tape had come off but I still had the mark at TDC. I noticed that the mark was no where to be seen when I pointed the light at my ballancer. I had to turn the adjustable advance to 25deg to get the mark on the ballancer to line up with the 0 mark on the timeing tab. I also noticed that when I reved the engine it didnt affect the timing. About 2 weeks ago I had the timing set at 12 initial and it was advancing to 36 by 2500 rpm. I havent touched it or checked it since then. Any Ideas the car doesnt want to run with less timing than about 20 at idle? I tried removing the advance springs and it didnt affect anything.

When i couldn't get my timing lined up it was due to the balancer, it got "unglued" and was flying all over the place. I'd check that and make sure it is ok. My outer part had moved outwards almost half way. Dangerous situation!
