Default taking out a/c.

Hi guys,

Taken out the a/c/ on my L48 1976 as not really needed in the U.k.
All pipes/air con unit etc. have been taken out and I'm left with the bukhead with pipes coming from it. Is it best to cap those off or will it be a real pain to take out the small bulkhead and how to finish off.

Also will the interior heater work as normal without problems.

Any info. from you well informed C3 specialists would be appreciated.

Jamie.

I removed the a/c from my 77 and used a cover from ac delete. I'm not sure of there exact website but you can google them. It was a direct fit and looks great. My car is still in project mode and have not done anything with the heater as of yet so that I do not now right now.

Where you are at is one of my biggest pet peaves at a car show. If you are going to take out the a/c, take it all the way out. Either get a cover from a/c delete or get a heater box complete; but don't just cap off the evaporator lines-or worse cut them with a hacksaw- and call it good. IMHO that looks like hammered dog do-do. Sorry, I needed to vent. You are trying to do the right thing. I don't believe the inner box for a/c and the outer box for just the heater will interface. You have to have matching inner and outer OR use the cover mentioned.

You should be able to find the inner plenum (passenger side) and outer plenum (engine side) from a non-air conditioned car pretty cheaply from a salvage yard or in the the corvetteforum parts wanted. I realize though that your faced with the problem of getting it to England.

All you need is the cover from acdelete.com. It fits over the heater core. If you were to get the cover from a non ac car, I don't think it will fit over your present heater core.

Whether you want to keep the heat/defrost only working will determine what you must do.

Spent a long time re-furbishing the engine bay, chassis and everything else, so there is no way I would bodge the a/c/ up. Appreciate the info. about the ac delete and I will be sorting that out.

The car does not do many miles a year and is in a heated garage. I will have to sort the heating out though but that will be a bit later on.

No. you will very, very rarely see vettes in the scrap yard, in fact you will rarely see one on the roads, as rare as rocking horse crap!!!
