Heard the HDs were being obsoleted, so get them while you can.

The Sports will still be available. I bought mine from VBP while they were doing the spring sale in 2009. Something like buy 3 get 1 free, I think...

Yes Sir; Maybe if they are going out of business, I had better buy Edelbrock to begin with. It is my understanding that the sport shocks are for lowered cars, & not really a good street shock. I'm wanting something for the Gymkhana FE7 system, helping getting the car not to over-steer. Thanks for the info. Gene

I dont think Bilstein is anywhere near going out of business. They are just not selling alot of HD shocks, so those part numbers go the way of the Dodo bird.

Everyone buys the Sports.

Thank-you Mr. MN-Brent & Mr. Shark Racer. After reading all info, The Skunk Works Alis Mr. Charlie, ( Whom got me out of trouble with having too large of a rear sway bar, & a Big Over steer problem. ) He says; the H/D Bilsteins are what I need to choose, over the Sports, with all the FE7 parts I have bought. I am going to run a stock Composite rear spring, & stock front springs, with both FE7 front & rear sway bars, with poly bushings, with some other H.D. shocks, than the new Delco shocks I have on it now. After reading all the info. Bilisteins HD would of been my choice, but since they will no longer be making them, I might use another brand. I Appreciate all the different angles & this Forum. Gene

I actually went from the Bilstein HDs to the Bilstein Sports after installing a composite rear spring on my car. The sports improved the ride, as the composite spring requires a lot more input from the shocks. (The metal springs are naturally damped, composite springs have nearly no damping whatsoever)

That being said, my HD bilsteins were at least 10 years old when replaced, so they may have needed it anyhow.

My 78 is running the combination you would end up with: 1 1/8" front sway, 550# front springs, 7/16" rear sway and 360# composite spring. I have no complaints about the Sport shocks.
