vortec heads and pushrod length with L83
I'm changing the heads and intake on my '82 vette--Here's the question--I'm changing to Vortec heads (170cc with 62cc combustion chambers--to keep the California smog police happy!) with self-aligning roller-rockers. So, are stock pushrods (7.8 in) going to work with this setup, or do I need to get a pushrod length checker tool to dial in the pushrod length? Secondly, are the normal "short" vortec valve covers going to work with my new roller rockers, or do I need to got to "tall" vortec valve covers?.....anybody done this change before?
