rear end O/H specs
I am rebuilding the diff on my '71. Does anyone know the specs on this diff or where I can find them? I have found all the torque specs but cant seem to find the spec for the pinion brg preload.

All specs would be in service manual. With new bearings/seal it is 18-22 in/lbs of drag as I recall. I will check again tonight but this is what is tuck in my head for years now.
This measurement is for pinon only in the case, not driving the ring gear, bearings and seal should have some lubrication on them.

Thanks for the info. I cant find the specs in the service manual I have. I think I would need an O/H manual which I dont have. I am reusing my old crown and pinion (3.55/1) and putting in new brgs and posi clutches. I have shimmed everything to get a good tooth pattern and ended up with .006" backlash, which I believe is on the low end of the limit (.006" - .010").
