Default help with power steering

Hi guys i have a question, I rebuilt my whole front end and that includes the power steering. I had leeks so I fixed them and then filled the res. I then put it up on jack stands and started it and tried to do the bleeding procedure. What happens is the steering starts by itself all the way to the left. I tried to turn to the right it was very hard, going back to the right on it's own. I sat there doing the back and forth and turned it off checked the fluid it was low so I filled it tried again with the same results. What is wrong?

Did you replace the proportioning valve? If a new one, it sounds like it needs to be adjusted, based on what you said. There's a screw for adjustment under a dust cap at the end of the prop. valve. There's some good advice on this site (I think Jim Shea?) about adjusting this from scratch.

I think spinadog is right. When I rebuilt mine I started the car up with the end of the cylinder unmounted from frame. Yours will probably push all the way out.So You turn clockwise with screw under dust cap until cylinder just starts to retract.Mark nut in relationship to valve body.Turn counterclockwise until cylinder just starts to extend. Mark that position. Then turn nut so mark on nut is centered to marks on valve. Your steering will be like brand new.
