I have a 79 with a cracked dashdoard, You know where it curves around to the window. not too bad but enough to bug me. I found one out of an 80 vette for $250.00 plus shipping $40.00. Is that a good price? The guy is a corvette salvage dealer says it,s in excellent shape. Also heard the repos are lousey fits, That your better of getting a recycled dash.
This place is great I asked for input on wheel restoration and got all kinds of great info Thanks All!!!!
My opinion is no. The replacement new one I bought was $400 and it does fit... In fact, the Ecklers version that I bought is slightly smaller that the stock one so it was EASIER to install. That is a trade off I will take any day.
I would cover it over with aftermarket dash coverings of some type...maybe even fuzzy type polor fleece in black, taking off the cracked vinyl enough so it don't show through....
you could try a dash 'shell' type covering...but on your dash it might not be available like for a '72, early shark style...think it's called a 'cap'....
I would not spend a fortune on it, as basically the economics of car value vs one item like that are not worth it...
