Well let me say I have purchased my first corvette. I purchased a 74 corvette project car. I want to start the rebuild but have many questions and concerns. I have been reading "Rookie's first attempt at a restoration... " on this forum and wow great information.

Here is my first question, what book or manual would anyone recommend to rebuild (frame off restoration) for this car?

I like reading all the pasts but I need a manual to reference when I am in my shop.

1st book that I would recommend is the Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) for you car. All the vendors have them and they are year specific.

The 2nd book I would recommend for your car is How to Restore and Modify Your Corvette, 1968-1982 by Richard Newton. Many vendors carry it, but it is available on Amazon as well.

The 3rd book I would recommend is the FACT BOOK of the 1972-1977 STINGRAY by M.F. Dobbins, also available from many of the vendors and at Amazon.

With these books in hand and an active FORUM account, you should have no problem accomplishing anything you might encounter or wish to accomplish on your car...

Good luck, and welcome to the Madness... GUSTO

Yes Sir; Buy the 1974 Chevrolet Corvette Shop Manual, Made for Chevrolet Motor Division, by Helm 1-800-782-4356. This will tell you how to take it apart, & tell you how to put it together again. Second book: Corvette Assembly Instruction Manual, For the 1974. These two books will be the best investment of the whole project. Have a great day. Gene
