My 1980, 305 ca edition, runs perfectly most of the time. However, when I turn it off with the a/c on it will not start, no click, lights come on but nothing happens. After 10 minutes or so it starts right back up. What Gives?

Starter heat soak? Are you running headers? The starter may not want to turn over until it cools off.

Sounds like it. Turning the ignition off with the AC on possibly isn't causing the problem.

If I remeber to turn off the a/c before turning off the car it will start up. No headers, all stock.

My best guess with that situation is a voltage drop with the
ac switch being on.

My first basic step would be to make sure all my battery, starter, AC wire harness connections were clean and tight.

Be sure to check your ground cable too, Ive had a very similar problem and it turned out the ground cable from the battery was corroded internally, the car would act very strangely with my electronics

That happens more than people think, it's best to use a digital volt meter and do a voltage drop test on the ground cable. More than a .5 volt drop is a concern.

I've had this happen with the positive cable in my truck.
