Default 68 dimmer switch and carpet

Hi,

Reinstalled the dimmer switch this evening (68 conv.), last owner did just let it hang in the cables. However, I can't figure out how the carpet shall be placed. I think the carpet is replaced by someone. Is it supposed to cover the black foot pedal and be tucked in under the speaker grille? It seems a bit tight to wrap the carpet over the pedal and down under the grille, this jams the pedal. Or should the carpet be under the dimmer pedal entirely?

See picture below:

Thanks.

On my 68 vert the carpet covered the entire pedal, I have since removed the pedal, everytime I stepped on the clutch (well most of the time) I would accidently hit the highbeam switch. A lil to tight of a squeeze down there for me.

The carpet should be over the pedal and tucked behind the kick panel..

Hi VOS,
On many original cars that area of carpet was very crudely cut and poorly fitted. So you may not be able to get a great fit.
That problem continued even in later model years.

Alan

I hit the high beam switch when I press the clutch on my 68 also.

Same problem here.. I have big feet though...

The carpet sets do come with a grommet if they come from ACC should you remove the pedal and want to run it like a standard old style car with the dimmer button coming though the carpet set.
