GMPP Serpentine kit: Alternator question (please help)
Hey guys, I have a question regarding the wireing diagram for the alternator on the GMPP Serpentine kit. I have read a couple of threads from durango boy, and understand which wires go where, but my question is with regards to the 50 ohm resister in the diagram.
Question:
Do I need to add this resistor into my wiring circut, or is this resister built into my gauge that is in the center gauge cluster? I am afraid that my alternator will not charge correctly if I do not have this resistor.

Depending on the year, you need the resistor. My '75 does not have a GEN light (not all C3's had them) so I needed the resistor.
There is a SI-CS conversion harness that has the resistor built in. I got mine at NAPA. Makes the job nice and easy.

My car is a 73 and does not have a generator light.
I ran another search and found this CS Alternator paper by durango boy:

It answered my question regarding the resistor. Since I do not have the generator light I can use part number EC82 from napa which has a built in resistor to the wiring plug.
