Does anyone here have any good recommendations for transportation or your Vettes? I'm in Florida, and it looks like I'm going to have to transport my dream car from somewhere on the west coast.
Can't help you out with a company name, but in my opinion it's worth the extra bucks to go with an enclosed trailer - preferably with yours being the only car. Had my Vette shipped from OH to NJ on one of those double decker open types. The SUV that was sitting above my car was dripping fluids the entire trip. Had a nice unexpected mess to clean up when the Vette arrived :cuss :mad
Just my $0.02, hope it helps...

I am moving from Colorado Springs, CO to Columbus, MS at the end of May...I am going the same route as Steve.
I've got a 14' U-haul with car trailer. I only have one dorm room plus some furniture stored at my parents' house (luckily it is half-way on the journey) and a Corvette to move. It's going to cost around $1,000. $750 for the truck, $250 for the trailer...unless I can move it faster and cut the cost down... :smash:
I just moved from Texas to North Carolina and used U-Hauls car hauler (trailer) and it worked great. The only problem I had was getting it on and off. The car hauler has a piece of metal that keeps the tires from jumping off the inside of the rails where you drive it up on and it actually hit my transmission crossmember. The ramps are too steep to keep this from happening. What me and my brother did was to back the trailer into my driveway, which had a slight slope to it. This straightened up the ramps enough to get the need clearance. When I was driving the care onto the trailer my brother keep a good watch on the underside so nothing would hit. We did the same thing to off load it in NC.

Thanks for that info...I have problems with my crossmember hitting the ramps on the lifts at the auto hobby shop on base. So, I'll have to watch for that. My solution at the shop is to drive up on normally, it has no problems getting on, and to block the ramps up higher so that there is a 1-2" cap between the ramp and the floor and the top of the ramp is flush with the lift. Works every time.
