trying to set up the rear on a vintage road race car(C3). the left rear is toed out 1/4 inch and the car has a large threaded shaft that appears to thread into the front of the trailing arm. anybody seen a setup like this ? it appears that it is out of travel so perhaps the arm is bent, but can't figure out how to adjust this thing.
don't think I could get a clear picture. car may have an IMSA history but we are not 100% sure. Didn't see this part on Gulstrands website so maybe I need to give them a call.
I wanted to install the Guldstrand threaded toe adjuster for the rear trailing arms on one of our winning historic racing Vettes at the shop. But the problem is you would have to remove the body to install them. Which is not easy when the roll cage goes through the body. At some point I'm going to put them on my Vette
They are very simple to adjust. The central bolt is threaded through the front trailing arm bushing. You have lock nuts on either side of the bushing. You loosen the lock nuts and then rotate the threaded central bolt the desired direction to adjust the toe.
We use a tire scribe to mark all the way around the tire and then we have a long rod with pointers. The difference from the scribe line front to rear is the toe in or out.
thanks for the reply. the setup I have is similar to what you describe "butt" the threaded shaft(approx.3/4" OD) also has a smaller diameter bolt and nut that goes through the center of this adjuster assembly. Also the larger shaft isn't solid and it appears you have to shorten one side and lengthen the other. I run strings down each side of the car, referenced to the frame,to set toe.
Trammel bar will give you a total toe reading, but would agree stringing up facilitates easier reference by which to make sure the rear is square with the chassis.

If anyone is interested I have a brand new (as in NEVER used and NEVER mounted) set of Guldstrand toe adjusters.....$150 delivered in the lower 48 states....send a PM if your a serious buyer.
thank you SkunkWorks ! that is what I have and can now figure out how to get this control arm off and find out what is wrong. Guess I could leave that 1/4" toe out in place and entertain any spectators !
