I had my cross brace out yesterday for unrelated issues and went to install it with the car jacked up under the crossmember. I noticed I had to 'open it up' a bit to get it to fit which tells me that the frame really does flex from jacking it up. So I lightly bolted it in with tension on the brace and lowered the car and there was now compression on the brace, confirming the frame flex.
So how did you install yours? With the car on the ground or the wheels off the ground? I think wheels on the ground is better as I think the pressure on the welds of the A-arm mount from installing it wheels off could bust the welds. I'd like to hear others experience...
I snugged mine up with the car on the ground. When I took it for an alignment afterwards, I noticed that they had adjusted it. I don't know if they moved it out or brought it in more? The place does a lot of performance cars (Porsche, Ferrari's, Vette, etc.) so I trust whatever they did :yesnod: . It was the most expensive alignment I ever had though at almost $400  .
Chris,
I try not to take it off because it changes your alignment (slightly) but i think you want to adjust it with the car on the ground and you want it to "spread" the upper a-frames apart. ...redvetracr
