Can someone give me a lesson on how the horn contact ring (mounted to the center of the steering wheel) causes the horns to blow?
I replaced the steering wheel with an aftermarket and in the process of re-attaching the horn contact and button with logo. When I assemble the contact on the steering wheel (Making sure the tab is in contact with the push rod) nothing happens when the contact tab is depressed. However if I allow the contact ring to touch the steering wheel center nut, the horns blow... if I had to guess, I do not have a ground when the contact is mounted to the wheel. Where is the ground supposed to come from?
I am certain you are grounding your horn when you make contact with the horn cap
Make sure you didn't loose the spring and plastic contacts under the arm of the contact. Under where that arm makes contact is a small deep hole. In that hole is suppose to be a spring and plastic. If you go to Corvette Central and look at a horn contact kit you will see what I mean. Hope this helps
