Is anyone running a dual quad setup on their C3? Pics? What hood? L-88? I am coming down to the motor rebuild and I want to get some more ideas!!!????
Intimidator454 is running them, I believe. Of course, he is running them on a 454 with a tunnel ram setup and a huge hood, so it's not exactly a "normal" setup. ;)
I ran the Edelbrock STR-10 dual quad crossram, a copy of the Z28 dual quad crossram. It could be said that my tolerance for lopey idle, etc. is greater than most, BUT...What a combination!!!!!
I copied Mark Donohues 69 Trans-Am engine as spec'd in the How to Hot Rod Small Block Chevy's, only mine was a 355 with slant plug Turbo Heads instead of the Fuely heads Donohue had. His 305 was said to dyno 475 hp, surely mine was equal to that with 50 cubes more, better heads, and the same of everything else.
I really wish I had not sold that manifold. They are no longer available through Edelbrock. I saw Vic at the Steamboat Springs vintage race a bunch of years ago and praised him for the manifold. He said it really was a great manifold and that he had considered producing it again, but I don't think it ever happened.
I actually squeezed it under an LT1 hood, but later bought the L88 hood I have now to allow a better air cleaner arrangement. It is even more impressive, imho, than a tri-power when you open the hood. Those 4150 Holleys seem to cover the whole engine. Absolutely Beauteous!
Mass... Awesome setup. What carbs do you guys recommend? I am afraid to OVER carb the motor. It will be a 350 with TFS heads. Pushing about 10:1 compression and a 268 Comp cam and 1 5/8 headers through 2 1/2 exhaust. I guess I'll use MSD setup also. Will this setup fit under a stock 1970 hood? Or do I need L-88. Does this setup require constant carb tuning? Sorry about all the questions... but I only want to do this ONCE! THanks for the help you guys!
Edelbrock and Summit carry the complete Edelbrock s/b and b/b in-line dual quad setups. I believe the s/b carries 2-500 cfm Edelbrocks. Tuning isn't difficult, and the Edelbrocks hold a setting FAR better than a Holley or Demon, and won't stumble off-idle like the others.
