Default Where does support rod attach?

My 71 car is missing the support rod that goes from the lower front of the radiator support forward to the underside of the nose.

It looks like it attaches to the bumper?

There is no hole in the U shaped bracket.

Does it attach to the center brace of the bumper?

If so , it looks like you have to remove the bumper to get the bolt and nut attached?

Does any have recent experience or remember how this rod attaches?

Thanks
David

There is a bracket riveted to the fiberglass nose along the front edge. There is a hole in the center of that bracket.

Hi David,
The tricky part is... the large 'horse shoe' shaped bumper brace needs to be off to have access to the bolt womb described! VERY Corvette!
There is no nut, each end of the support rod has a threaded hole.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan

I think I will wait and let this be a winter project.

If I have learned 1 thing, you better be in the mood to do a job before you start it or you will regret it and may make a mess.

FYI , it was at the NCRS meet that I noticed the rod on all of the 70 thru 72 cars I was looking at.

Regards

David
