I'm a new guy around here.... I am thankful I found this website so I could get great ideas and tech tips...
I bought this car 2 weeks ago and have already completed several upgrades........ The car supposedly has 53,000 original miles and everything seems to indicate that to be true. The car even had undercoating done to it at one time.
Installed new carpet with a reflective heat shield underneath, New wheels & painted the calipers , painted some interior parts with interior spray, new door panels and re-unpholstered the seats myself....looks and smells like a new car inside. The A/C was fixed and changed over to R-134. I also installed new Dynomax mufflers.
I worked about 8 hours a day from Monday to Sunday. Now I am going to work at getting the engine compartment clean & new looking.
When I removed the carpet......I was very pleased to see it was rust free. There was a mouse nest under the center console and 100's of mouse poops.....everywhere.
I am a new owner of a 76 L-82. Is it hard to do the carpet? I was thinking of ading the heat sheild and thought that would be a good time to do new carpet. Just wondering how big of a job that it.
No matter what you are doing, someone on this forum has done it before.
There are members building perfect restorations and others building race cars and everything in between.
Rather than wait for your questions to be hopefully answered in a way you can understand, use the search.
Not only will you get your answer, you get the experience of those who take the time share their very expensive, hard earned knowlege!
Yes they are 17 inch wheels & tires that I bought from the parts section of this website for $800.00. I loved the look of those wheels and was going to buy them when I noticed the used package deal here and it was within driving distance to pick up. I got very luck on that deal.
I had a 2 tone 77 and the reason I asked was your kick panels are white, where as mine were the dash color.
Maybe because of the bright sun down here, but I ended up painting the pillars and header panel the dash color too. White made me feel like a flood lite was constantly on.
No..you are right.... I chaged the colors of the kick panels from gray to white because they needed touched up...and I did not have gray paint. I painted them white for a temporary fix...
