Default Trailing Arms - Need advice

I pulled off the rear suspension from my '74...

I posted it all in this forum...and asked about the trailing arms...but no reply...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...down-pics.html

The arms were rebuilt about 5 or 6 years ago, but while they're off - what should I check ? How should I inspect them ? As long as they're off, if they need anything, this would be the time !

Thanks in advance...Jeff

From your earlier post, you mention Van Steel as the supplier for your adjustable links. They are in the business of rebuilding trailing arms so why don't you contact them for the list of things they look for.

I personally look for stuff like this...

While you have the trailing arms out, you could make a small change to gain about an inch extra tire clearance. That e-brake cable bracket mounted on the outside surface creates a tire clearance issue. If you are considering bigger tires, now would be a good time to relocate that bracket to the top of the arm. It isn't as much clearance as the 2.5 inch offset arms but it's only a little grinding and welding.

Actually Jeff, I did relpy, but it was at the bottom of the two pics of the job I did on my car, you may not have seen it. I said if the piviot bushings look worn, I'd change them now, along with the bolts. But if you haven't had any issues with the TA's and haven't put 100K miles on them since the rebuild, I'd think you'd be good.

Worst that can happen is they fail on me....!

I'm no trailer arm expert, but from what I've read from old threads on this subject, they've mention checking bearing end play and just checking to make sure all bushings are in good conditions. If everything is good, then you're good to go.
