so i whent to replace my steering coloumb coupler and i got it off but now that i want to put it back to gether i find that the piece that goes on the other side of it(the side u put the nuts on) is to far of the steering columb like the columb got shuffed back. now i find that strange because everything looks fine in the car so here is what i want to know is there someone that can take a couple of pictures of there 76 steering colomb coupler and get them to me so i can see what iam doing wrong... (or if there is anything wrong).. thanks
I dropped my steering column as Artsvette suggested and didn't have any problems. I replaced the rag-joint with a u-joint, so my pics won't help you. Maybe you could takes some pics and post so we can see your issue better. The column is collaspable by design, but I'm guessing that's a one-way deal; how did you get the coupler out?
[QUOTE=Artsvette73;1574995416]How many hammers did you use?
well to be truth full one.... so lets say i collapsed the colomb what do i have to do now .. i did get it back together but not without any flaws it makes a clonking sound when i turn sharply.. one more question where do u get u jouints for it because that be way better.. thanks
The column collapse alot easier then it is to get it back in position. You may have damaged to lower bearing causing the clunk you mention. Best to pull the column and assess the damage
